STUDY FAVORS FLU VACCINE FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN

New research suggests that infants and children should receive the flu vaccine, not only for protection against the flu, but for protection against a specific respiratory disease. Respiratory syncytial virus, which often circulates with the flu virus, is the most frequent cause of hospitalization for lower respiratory tract infections among American children under the age of 5, causing between 84,000 and 144,000 hospitalizations each year.
